Dedham Movers – Dedham Moving Company

Hiring Dedham movers to live outside (but very close to) the city?

Move to Dedham! If you’re looking for Dedham movers, we can help! We’ve performed countless moves in town, and our office is located not too far away in Allston.

Located just southwest of Boston’s West Roxbury, and Roslindale neighborhoods, Dedham is small town of just under 25,000 residents. Originally settled in 1635, the town also borders Needham, Westwood, and Canton. Our Dedham moving company is often in the area.

When originally incorporated, the town stretched all the way from Boston to the Rhode Island border. And nobody called it “Dedham.” In fact, “Contentment” was the original name. Unfortunately the Massachusetts General Court wasn’t very content (get it?) with the original name. So they changed it to Dedham, in honor a town in Essex, England.

Culture and History

Think high culture is the purview only of the urban center of the Boston Area? Think Again! The Dedham Community Theater, an independent cinema founded in 1927, features Art House films, as well as live comedy and music. In fact, until recently, the historic theater housed a branch of the Museum of Bad Art, which also has locations in Somerville and Brookline. The town is where both Anne of Green Gables, a 1919 silent movie, as well as the 2010 Martin Scorsese picture Shutter Island were filmed.Perhaps most famously, Dedham is home to United States’ oldest home, the Jonathan Fairbanks House. Born in Yorkshire, England in 1594, The Fairbanks patriarch emigrated to Boston in 1633. A few years later, his family was one of the first to leave Boston for the new settlement of Dedham, where he built the house located at 511 East Street. The house is now a museum, but it is still owned by the Fairbanks family — a family whose well-known descendants include U.S. Presidents William Howard Taft, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush; poet Emily Dickinson; anthropologist Margaret Mead; and nineteenth century murderer Jason Fairbanks.
